Frequently Asked Questions
What colleges are participating in the Maine Transfer Guarantee?
Please click on the “Participating Colleges” page in the top navigation of this site to view a list of all colleges and universities that are participating in the Maine Transfer Guarantee. Fun fact: institutions can sign on to join the Guarantee at any time, so it is possible that this list will expand over time.
What if I do not finish my associate degree?
The Maine Transfer Guarantee is a program for students who complete an associate degree at a Maine community college prior to transferring, so the benefits of participating only apply to students who complete their associate degree. If you are thinking about transferring before completing your associate degree, consider talking to a community college transfer advisor who can help you make sense of your options.
How will my credits transfer?
Please click on the “Participating Colleges” page in the top navigation of this site. There you will be able to click into an individual college or university on the list and then access the link to that institution’s transfer policies page. Transfer policy may differ slightly from college to college. For example, some schools may accept a minimum course grade of a C-, while others will require a C.
How do I plan for a successful transfer?
Even with the benefits of the Maine Transfer Guarantee, the process of transferring can be complex. Thankfully, there is no need to go it alone. To minimize stress and maximize support, you will want to speak to your community college transfer advisor often about your plans to transfer early. Your specific plans can change along the way, so you don’t need to wait till you’ve got it all figured out to reach out. It’s starting the conversation that makes all the difference.
